Cooking Your Way to a Stronger Team

Many companies are waking up to the importance of looking after staff and making sure they work cohesively and without friction. Indeed many business experts state that it is not individual brilliance that leads to success, but instead strong group dynamics and team support.

The number of companies choosing to use team building days has risen by 23% in the last 5 years, and the range of activities open to businesses has more than doubled. Some agencies run team building days were you have to build a car from scratch virtually, and others take place in exotic rain forests. One type of team building day that has proved very popular is corporate cookery days. The format of these days usually includes a competitive element between a number of teams who are required to put together a first course, second course and sweet, which is then later judged by a panel of 'experts'.

The popularity of these cookery days has certainly got a lot to do with Chef Gordon Ramsey's increasing popularity and his no-nonsense kitchen management approach. In fact many of these team building cookery days use the theme of a Gordon Ramsey style kitchen. If your thinking its a day of fierce discipline though, think again. There is always a layer of fun added into these challenges, and it usually very humorous when things go wrong

These fun, tongue in cheek style team building days are even starting to replace corporate hospitality events. Many business men and women are getting fed up of the same old hospitality events, where they end up bored stiff, but having to pretend they are having a great time.Nobody wants to be sitting around idle, having to produce forced smiles every five minutes, they want to be getting involved with the entertainment. Its not that hard to see why either, events such as corporate cooking can be very funny and are a great way to get everyone working together and communicating?
